No Such Thing as a Problem? Come On...
Yesterday, one of my favorite readers gently chastised
me because he thought I was looking for sympathy about a problem I
mentioned in a recent e-mail.
It kind of shocked me because that wasn't my intent at all. Here's my basic belief:
I've never had a problem! I never need sympathy.
Now, that sounds like hooey to a lot of folks I'm sure because...
Many people have severe problems...and they love them.
I know. I used to be one of those. My problems were very dear to me. I nurtured them like a child.
And I got more problems.
If you're familiar with my book Bad Dad: 10 Keys to Regaining Trust, you'll remember that I wrote about some very serious parenting problems that I experienced first hand.
But when I examined my life many years ago, I noticed a pattern:
What I thought was a problem - really just a challenge of my perception - was ALWAYS the beginning of a blessing. ALWAYS.
Now, I've got to admit...some days we're more blessed than others. And those blessings come in different packages.
It may seem strange that I'm going to refer you to a product that a friend and colleague has just introduced, but let me explain why it's really a blessing to me...maybe it is to you too.
About 4 months ago, I told my friend and mentor, Mark Hendricks, that my business plan was to create a niche empire. That's a bunch of topic-specific websites, much like Rodale Press.
Rodale Press has been a legend in the publishing business for many years. Back in the 70s, when huge general interest magazines like Life, Look and The Saturday Evening Post were dying, Rodale Press, a small specialty publisher, was flourishing with titles like Organic Farming and Gardening.
Like Rodale Press, my goal is to own hundreds of topic-specific, highly-targeted niche websites. When I told Mark this, he said, "That is a gold mine."
But it's only gold if I do it. There's the problem...
I haven't created hundreds - only a few. Why?
I didn't trust the information I had. It was too much work. I didn't know how to get started. I needed the right blueprint. Here comes the blessing...
Denise Hall, a full-time marketer that I respect very much and who has always helped me when I reached out, asked me to review her new product...
