What's the point?
WWP's into its second month. Praise is coming in from all over. (Well the limited number of people I send this out to seem to like it -- that's the truth!)
Someone suggested being clearer about WWP's purpose. So, I'm going to give that a shot. As you can tell, it changes as the site progresses. But there is one overriding vision for the site:
Promote World Peace through Inner Peace.
What does that mean?
If you're like me, you watch CNN or Fox or NBC, and you walk away thinking, "There's no hope. The world is a mess." Part of that's true -- the world is a mess. Always has been, probably always will be.
But the first part is not true. Despite evidence to the contrary, there is hope. It's in the gap in my relationship with you. With my wife. My kids. My parents. My friends. And the strangers I meet on a daily basis. It's the space in the relationship with my God, Higher Power, Yahweh, Allah or Universal Intelligence -- whatever you call that spiritual force that permeates all. Your hope lies in the space you've created in your relationships. That space can be a void, or it can be a direct conduit through which you pour peace, love and understanding. For years, my spaces were voids. I didn't put anything in there. I had too much fear. I sealed off my end of the conduit. You could have been sending me lots of love, but there was no getting through. I wasn't receiving.
This website is about filling the space with peace, love and understanding. It's about receiving . . . And sending. You could call it networking with people of like minds. But it's much more than that. It's education through experience, but more than that. It's about personal change, yet more than that.
And it's about celebrating peacemakers, whether they are global, living next door, in your business or running the cash register at the grocery .
So why call it "World" Wanting Peace?
Have we really addressed the world? Isn't that the job of our elected leaders. (Have you seen our elected leaders? I don't think I want to put our fate in the hands of any single person from any single political party or country.) It's up to us. But how can I -- a single, solitary soul on a planet of 6 billion people -- ensure peace? By changing my heart. And sharing that change with everyone I can. And talking about the changes in the hearts that touch me. And inviting those hearts to participate in this sharing. The broader the base of people, the greater the sharing. As more hearts resonate with our core values of peace, love and understanding, our world gets bigger.
What's next?
Soon, WWP's world is getting much bigger. Other websites, that have been doing this kind of work longer, have noticed WWP. And WWP is becoming much more focused on broadening its reach and voice. That will include finding ways to support the site financially. Here's how we're doing it now:
- Look to the right. Those are Google Ads. Everytime you click on those, WWP gets a few pennies. Feel free to click away.
- See the Amazon.com search box. Search for a book from here and we get a commission. Buy any book featured here and we get more pennies.
In the last month, WWP has had about 1000 page impressions -- no idea about unique views. But that's not bad for something that started as an experiment.
